Rev. Lawrence Wood signs copies of new book

The Rev. Lawrence Wood, senior pastor at the First Congregational Church of Darien, has published his second book, “News to Me: Gospel Stories for the Real World.” He will be signing copies at Barrett Bookstore from 3 to 5 on Saturday, May 3.
In “News to Me,” Rev. Wood creates 32 reflections on the Christian life. Drawing from the wells of history, the lives of famous and not-so-famous people, and his own observations of popular culture, he combines scripture with stories to offer a view of the gospel at work. An excerpt of the book was recently a cover article for “The Christian Century.”
“News to Me” is Rev. Wood’s second book. He is also the author of “One Hundred Tons of Ice” and “Other Gospel Stories.” Both books were published by the Westminster John Knox Press.
Rev. Wood and his family came to Darien last October as the 22nd senior minister in the 270-year history of the First Congregational Church of Darien.
