Library's new development director is local, experienced

Greenwich Library has appointed Sharlene Cameron as the new director of development. 

Ms. Cameron will be supporting the Board of Trustees in the library’s fund-raising initiatives and special events, including the annual appeal, the biennial Peterson Dinner, and the Distinguished Lecture series.

Prior to joining Greenwich Library, Ms. Cameron was with Greenwich Country Day School, for seven years where she served as the director of programs for diversity and the director of the annual fund. Before that she served as assistant controller for Gintel Assets Management, a brokerage and investment firm in town.

Ms. Cameron has lived and worked in the Greenwich area for 25 years. She is active in community affairs and a former president of the Board of Directors for the YWCA of Greenwich. In 2003, she was nominated by the national YWCA to be a delegate at the YWCA World Convention in Brisbane, Australia, where she voted on global and national policy. Ms. Cameron was also instrumental in bringing James McBride, author of the best-selling book The Color of Water, to address the YWCA annual meeting that year.
 
Mrs. Cameron, who lives in town, is a native of Jamaica and a graduate of Nyack College where she earned a bachelor of science in organizational management. She and her husband have a son who is a freshman at Dartmouth College and a daughter who is a senior at Greenwich High School and will be attending Lehigh University in the fall.
