Integrative medicine center offers herb gardening series
Recognizing the important role of herbs in holistic health care, Greenwich Hospital’s Center for Integrative Medicine will offer “How Green Grows My Garden,” a four-part gardening series designed to help budding herb gardeners open new avenues of cooking, nurturing, relaxation and health-starting right in their own back yards.

Classes will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Center for Integrative Medicine on 35 River Road in Cos Cob on Wednesdays, April 7, 9, 23 and 30. To register, call 863-3627 or 888-357-2409, or visit Greenhosp.org. The fee is $80.

April 7: Choosing Your Herbs

Join master herbalist Andrea Candee for an overview of culinary and medicinal herbs. Learn how to select the right ones for your garden and kitchen.

April 9: Designing Your Garden

Mary Jo Bridge Palmer of Sam Bridge Nursery in Greenwich will demonstrate how to organize herbs-taking into account growth style, sunlight and water requirements, compatibility, and other criteria. Participants will draw a garden plan, and the “best design” winner will receive a free yoga series at the Center for Integrative Medicine.

April 23: The Organic Herb Gardener

Ms. Bridge Palmer will show you how to keep your garden healthy and pest-free without the use of herbicides and pesticides.

April 30: Field Trip and Planting

Join Ms. Bridge Palmer for a field trip to Greenwich Hospital’s Carl and Dorothy Bennett Community Garden, and participate in the planting of its herb garden for the coming season.
