John Jay musical begins tonight
The John Jay High School Theatre Workshop will be performing the musical comedy Crazy for You starting tonight at 7, with additional performances tomorrow evening at 8 and on Saturday at 2 and 8.
Crazy for You was written by Ken Ludwig with music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin. The students have been preparing for this performance for months, taking classes in tap and jazz dance through the school as a prerequisite for auditions.
Nearly 100 students and staff have participated in the show, which won a Tony award in 1992. The story is set in the 1930s, in New York City and Deadrock, Nev. It is directed by John Jay performing arts teacher Amy Geiger.
Tickets for all shows may purchased at the door or at the high school performing arts office, and are $16 for adults and $13 for students and senior citizens. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more. More information: jjhs.klschools.org and click on Performing Arts.
