Man arrested for pipe bomb explosion
An 18-year-old South Salem man was arrested on Saturday, July 21 for allegedly exploding a pipe bomb on the windshield of a car. According to state police, Ryan Jensen was charged with first degree criminal mischief, a class B felony, for taping a homemade pipe bomb to the windshield of a 2007 Lexus that had been parked in The Meadows housing development in Cross River.
Mr. Jensen was also charged with a second count of criminal mischief for detonating a similar pipe bomb inside a mailbox in North Salem. He was released on $500 bail with curfew restrictions, state police said.
According to state police, Mr. Jensen had already been out on bail for second degree criminal mischief, a class D felony, for a crime in Pound Ridge.
The charges may carry a maximum prison sentence of 25 years, state police said.
