Town to get protective devices

Town Supervisor Edward Brancati will sign an Intermunicipal Agreement (IMA) with Westchester County to obtain special equipment and supplies designed to protect against “weapons of mass destruction.”

The equipment and supplies are being distributed to first responders throughout the county by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Officials agreed to discuss the allocation of the materials with the town’s emergency management committee at a future Town Board meeting.

“Let’s see exactly what they are,” said Town Board member Peter DeLucia. “At the very least they can probably be used to enhance the ability of our first responders to detect suspected weapons of mass destruction, and they probably have other uses.”
Mr. Brancati agreed. “Even if we do not need all of the items in that one particular area, I am sure their use can be transferred to others.”
