Ernest Anthony Spadaccini
Ernest Anthony Spadaccini, 90, of Columbus, N.C., died Thursday, May 1, at his home.

Born in New Canaan, he was the son of the late Antonio and Carmela Pantalone Spadacinni.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Christopher, Ann Novokus, Virginia DelVicario and Julie Spadaccini, and two brothers, John and Fred Spadaccini.

He is survived by one sister, Antonette Sirico, and her husband, Thomas, whom “Ernest loved like a brother.” Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

Mr. Spadaccini was the widower of Lenore Madeline Spadaccini, who died in 2003.

He has a surviving step-son Lawrence P. Demott of Willimantic.

Mr. Spadaccini served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from December 1941 to 1945. While in service, he was a ward master. He received a M.M. Rifle Badge, Good Conduct Medal and American Defense Service medal. He served and was stationed in Europe and Mid-Eastern Africa.

He was a member of Tryon United Methodist Church and volunteered for St. Luke’s Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, and was selected to the “Second Wind Hall of Fame.”

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
