Sister of resident succumbs

Katherine Evelyn (Russell) Schmidt, sister of Mary Kane (Russell) White and sister-in-law of Richard B. White of New Canaan, died Thursday, April 24, at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston, N.Y. The cause of death was double pneumonia and heart failure.

Known as Kate, Ms. Schmidt was a professional photographer, and was involved in environmental, educational, cultural and political activities in New York City and Colorado Springs, Colo.

She is survived by her son, Benno Charles Schmidt III, and his wife, Sara; her daughter, Betsey Schmidt Lifton, her husband, Eric, and their children, Asher and Sylvie; another sister, Phoebe (Russell) Ozuna, and brother-in-law, Ron Ozuna.
