Be succinct
May 1, 2008
All letters to the editor will be limited to 350 words beginning with the May 8 issue. The
New Canaan Advertiser is making this adjustment so more letters can appear in the newspaper.
For example, due to length, there are only seven letters and four columns in this week’s issue. Many more were held, and this newspaper strives to provide a forum for all readers. Those letters and columns that did not run this week will run in coming weeks.
All letters submitted after next week’s deadline must adhere to this new policy.
Letters must reach the
Advertiser by 5 p.m. the Monday before publication, though that does not guarantee space. All letters must include the writer’s name, address and phone number (not for publication), and not be libelous or in poor taste. Letters more than 350 words will be returned to the writer for revision.
The
Advertiser will continue to accept unsolicited commentaries from residents and officials, which will be limited to 650 words.
Letters should be sent by e-mail to editor@ncadvertiser.com; mailed to the
New Canaan Advertiser, P.O. Box 605, New Canaan, CT 06840, or dropped off at the newspaper’s Vitti Street office.
