Parking fees rising
Soaring gas prices are making it more expensive to go anywhere these days; now it will cost more to stay put, too.

The Board of Selectmen Tuesday approved the Parking Commission’s recommendations that daily municipal parking passes jump from $5 to $6 and metered parking at Talmadge Hill and Railroad train stations jump from $3 to $4. These changes will go into effect as soon as possible.

As of July 1, annual permit prices will also increase; this is the second year price hikes were based on lot demand, versus a flat fee.

The cost of a Railroad lot permit will jump $12, from $480 to $492. A Richmond Hill lot permit will increase by $24, from $360 to $384. A Talmadge Hill lot permit was $360 and will now cost $396.

Park Street and Locust Avenue lot permits go up $15, from $345 to $360; The Telephone Company lot’s permit jumps $12, from $360 to $372.
Only Center School’s lot fee will stay steady at $100.
