What stores are open all night?
Dunkin’ Donuts, 107 Danbury Road, (438-9708), Dunkin’ Donuts, 15 Ethan Allen Highway, Branchville (544-9586), Ridgefield Mobil, 31 Danbury Road, (438-6559), and Ridgefield BP Amoco, 115 Danbury Road (431-0616) are open 24 hours a day. The last two are gas stations with convenience stores.

What supermarkets are in town?
The town has two supermarkets. Ancona’s, 720 Branchville Road, Branchville, (544-8436) is the only locally owned supermarket and is associated with the IGA stores.
Stop & Shop is in Copps Hill Plaza, (438-7317). Peapod.com is an online grocery service affiliated with Stop & Shop that delivers to Ridgefield.
There is also Balducci’s, 21 Governor Street, (431-4400), which has a wide selection of food items, but not the non-food items traditionally found in a supermarket.
Milillo Farms (438-6677) offers meat, fresh fruits and vegetables, convenience foods, fresh breads, and other food items. It is at 424 rear Main Street (in the municipal parking lot off Bailey Avenue).

Is there a thrift shop?
The Thrift Shop on Catoonah Street is open noon to 4 Monday through Friday and 10 to 1 on Saturday. It accepts any clean, usable, and up-to-date clothing, as well as books, records, household items, and small appliances. Items may be dropped off Monday through Friday from noon to 3:30; Saturday from 10 to 12:30. Do not leave items outside; bring them into the shop. For more information, call 438-3328.
The money raised by the thrift shop is donated to many different organizations and charities, including scholarship grants for nursing students.

Are there any clothing consignment stores?
The Children’s Cottage carries children’s clothing, maternity clothing, toys, books and such. It is at 409 Main Street. Call 438-3933.
For women’s clothing and accessories, there is Bring N Buy, 590 Danbury Road. Call 438-7714.

Are there any department stores?
The only department store in town is Kohl’s in Copps Hill. The number is 438-7767. The nearest mall is the Danbury Fair Mall, near where I-84 intersects with Route 7.

Where is the nearest farmers’ market?
Markets open this season include Georgetown (Route 57 at 107) open Sundays, 10 to 2; New Canaan (Center School parking lot) open Saturdays, 10 to 2, and Weston, Saturdays, 8 to noon, at the Weston Historical Society on Route 57. The Hickories is a working farm at 126 Lounsbury Road that works under a four-season growing schedule. Sales to the public start with maple syrup in spring, fresh fruits and vegetables all summer, and pumpkins and hayrides in the fall. The greenhouse offers fresh salad greens and spinach all winter. The farm stand on Lounsbury Road is open mid-June through September. At other times, go online to thehickories.org.

Where can I pick my own fruits and vegetables?
You may pick your own berries in the summer at The Hickories, 126 Lounsbury Road (see above). Visit thehickories.org for details.
Blue Jay Orchards at 125 Plumtrees Road in Bethel (748-0119/bluejayorchardsct.com) is well-known for apple and pumpkin picking. Early apples are expected to arrive in August; pick-your-own starts in September and continues through early November. Different varieties of apples ripen at different times so availability depends on time of season.
Silverman’s Farm at 451 Sport Hill Road in Easton (261-3306/silvermansfarm.com) offers pick-your-own peaches and apples from mid-July to mid-October. There is a farm market, florist, animal park, seasonal cider mill and tractor rides.
Warrups Farm on John Read Road in West Redding (938-9403/warrupsfarm.com) is an organic farm offering pick-your-own flowers, fruits, vegetables and pumpkins.

Where can I rent party supplies? Where can I rent power tools and lawn equipment?
A rental outlet is Party Depot of Ridgefield, 98 Danbury Road, 438-4722. For tables, chairs, and tents, call Keough’s Do It Best Rental at 544-8370.
For tools, cleaning equipment, machines and home improvement gear, try Young’s Equipment, 99 Danbury Road (431-4846). Keough’s Do It Best Rental on Route 7 (544-8370) offers a variety of tools and equipment from paint sprayers to jackhammers and backhoes.

Does the town have a sidewalk sale?
Downtown Ridgefield sponsors Sidewalk Sales, in which the town’s merchants place many of their wares outside, usually at marked-down prices. The event usually takes place in July and is reported in advance in local press and radio stations.
The Chamber of Commerce sponsors an annual street fair called Sale-A-Bration, also in July.

Are there any bookstores in town?
Books on the Common (431-9100) in Copps Hill Common, 109 Danbury Road, sells new books.
While they may not be considered real books, Twin Suns Card & Comic (438-4681) at 421 Main Street, carries comic books.

Is there a dry cleaners in town?
Dry cleaners in town include Colonial Cleaners, 19 Catoonah Street; Copps Hill Laundromat and Dry Cleaners, 109 Danbury Road; Dry Cleaning Station, 125 Danbury Road; Frances Cleaners, 145 High Ridge Avenue; MG Cleaners & Tailors, CVS plaza; R&E Cleaners, 56 Danbury Road; Ridgefield Cleaners, 15 Governor Street (next to Hay Day); and Sanda’s Cleaners, 621 Main Street.

Is there a self storage facility in town?
Ridgefield Self Storage (431-0177) is at 872 Ethan Allen Highway (Route 7); Branchville Self Storage (544-0100) is near the Branchville train station.

Can I get home delivery of a newspaper?
Berman News Service offers morning delivery of local, state, national, and international newspapers. For information, call 834-8754.
