Juliana J. Iorio, a former Ridgefielder, died Saturday, April 26, in Community Hospital at Dobbs Ferry, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., after “a long and courageous battle with breast cancer,” her family said. She was 62 years old and the wife of Andrew J. Iorio of Newtown.
She was born in Manhattan on April 19, 1946, a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Eier Baldasty. Mrs. Iorio, who was an avid gardener, had lived in Newtown since 2000 after having spent 30 years in Ridgefield.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Iorio is survived by three sons, Matthew Iorio, and his wife, Sara, of Darien; Kris Iorio and his wife, Stacy, of Manhattan; and Drew Iorio of Stamford; and a brother, Louis Baldesty of Queens, N.Y. Mrs. Iorio is also survived by her granddaughters, Lauren and Emily, “who were the apples of their grandmother’s eye,” the family said.
Services took place Wednesday from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown and St. Rose of Lima Church, with a Mass of Christian burial. Burial followed in Newtown Village Cemetery.
Contributions in Mrs. Iorio’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897.
