DUFFERS: Golf rates are rising at Ridgefield course

The cost of a golf game at the town course is going up, the Board of Selectmen has decided.

The selectmen voted unanimously March 19 to approve the recommendation of the golf committee to raise rates this season. The new price is $25 for Ridgefielders to play — up $5 from last year.

Ridgefield’s senior citizens and juniors will pay $15 to play during weekdays, but $25 for weekend play. For out-of-towners, the cost will remain $45 for weekdays and $50 for weekends. The price for non-resident seniors will rise from $25 to $30.

The course will renew 2008 permits at $15 each and issuing new permits at $25 each through March 31.

Cart rentals will remain $14.

The last increase at the golf course was in 2004, Golf Committee Chairman Ed Tyrrell said.

The course opens on April 1, weather permitting.
