Correction
First Selectman Woody Bliss said that at the Annual Town Budget Meeting April 21, he called the town’s mill rate increase one of the lowest in Fairfield County, not the mill rate, as reported in an article in the April 24 issue of The Forum.

In the same article, it was reported that a line in the police budget for $72,212 was for the salary of the lieutenant/captain’s position. However, that line item is actually for Officer Rich Palmiero’s salary.

Correction
In an online story posted July 13, “Weston Police Commission: Selectmen rescind decision to appoint Edward Schwarz,” it was reported that First Selectman Woody Bliss referred to a letter from Rick Saltz, “DTC member... [and] also a member of the Police Commission.”

Mr. Saltz is a Democrat and a member fo the Police Commission. However, he resigned from the Democratic Town Committee in May 2006. “Since my resignation, I have not attended any DTC meetings and have not been involved in selecting or recommending anyone for appointments,” Mr. Saltz said.

Clarification
An article in the July 5 issue of The Forum stated that the assistant assessor position held by Donna Werfelman “was not budgeted enough hours to qualify her for the town’s medical insurance. That did not happen until 2005, but [Town Administrator Tom Landry] does acknowledge that she would have been eligible in July 2004. And it is that one-year difference that brought the longtime town employee before the Board of Selectman to seek a resolution to this impasse.”

On Friday, July 6, Ms. Werfelman said she wanted to clarify she is claiming she in fact worked more than 20 hours on a regular basis beginning in 2000. “This has been going on for seven years,” she said.

The article also states that Ms. Werfelman told Mr. Landry that “both the town’s Insurance Advisory Committee and the state labor board confirmed to her that she was eligible for benefits in June 2003.”

Ms. Werfelman said that what was referred to in the article as “the state labor board” is the State of Connecticut Retirement and Benefit Services Division of the Office of the State Comptroller, and that she was told she was eligible for benefits beginning in May 2000.
