Calendar of Events in and around Weston

The following is a listing of upcoming Weston events and other important dates for the town. All events in this calendar are open to the public. Saturday, June 7
Weston Farmer’s Market, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Coley Homestead, Weston Historical Society, on the corner of Route 57 and High Acre Road. Featuring fresh produce, baked goods and homemade crafts. Climb aboard a Weston fire truck and visit with baby goats courtesy of Goat Boy Soaps.

Saturday Night Swing Dance,
doors open at 7 p.m., at the Norfield Grange Hall, 12 Goodhill Road. The FairWestSwing Project hosts an evening of swing dance lessons and dancing. A swing dance fundamentals lesson with “Stretch” begins at 7:30. A supplemental lesson, building on the intro lesson, begins at 8:30. Dance to swing and jump blues from 9:30 to midnight. Very beginner friendly. No prior experience or partner required. Organic refreshments included. Smoke-and alcohol-free. Door prizes. Cool Jazz on a Hot Summer’s Night, 8 p.m. in the Community Room of the Weston Public Library. Mark Rapp, renowned, award-winning, trumpeter, will be the featured artist. This event is sponsored by the Weston Commission for the Arts, and is free and open to the public. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis and limited to one hundred. Doors will open at 7:30. Sunday, June 8
Swing 101, Swing Dance Fundamentals II, Starts 1:15 p.m., with breaks, ends 6:30. Bring snacks and drink. This will be a small, group class. Cost is $60 walk-in, $50 advance registration by e-mail. For more information contact stretch@fairwestswing.com or 203-522-5341.

Wednesday, June 11 
Authors in the Evening, 7:30 in the library community room. Features local author Cathryn Prince who will read from her new work, Burn the Town and Sack the Banks: Confederates Attack Vermont!. Books will be available for purchase and signing and light refreshments will be served. The event is free and sponsored by the Friends of the Weston Library.

Thursday, June 12
Norfield Fair Art Preview Night, 6 to 8:30 p.m., at Norfield Church, wine and cheese reception.

Friday, June 13
Norfield Fair Antiques Preview Night, 6 to 8:30 p.m., at Norfield Church, wine and cheese reception.

Saturday, June 14
107th annual Norfield Fair, 9 to 4 at Norfield Church.  Old fashioned country fair features antiques, art, garden and kitchen shops, food, games, and family entertainment.

Wednesday, June 18
How to make your home “green” and save money, 7:30 p.m., at the Weston library. Interactive workshop on reducing the carbon footprint (oil and gas consumption) in the home, using the best technologies available today in the home. Sponsored by The Weston Select Committee on Global Warming.

Friday, June 27
Indie Film Series at the library, 7:30 p.m. in the library community room. Featuring, a short film Love and Class in Connecticut, written by Susan Cinoman, a Wilton teacher. The short film was a recent feature at the Connecticut Film Festival. The film’s writer and director will be available to answer questions after the screening. The event is free and sponsored by the Friends of the Weston Library. Wine and cheese will be served prior to the screening.
