|
Gov. M. Jodi Rell issued a declaration proclaiming Thursday, Nov. 29, to be Greg Pross Day in honor of the Weston Eagle Scout.
Greg, a graduate of Weston High School and a member of Weston Boy Scout Troop 788, is a freshman at Muskingum College in Ohio. As part of his Eagle Scout service project, he installed tick/Lyme disease warning signs throughout public open spaces in Weston.
His project was sponsored by the Westport-Weston Health District and coordinated by Monica Wheeler. The signs were funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta.
Greg, the son of Dave and Cynthia Pross of Weston, has been struggling with the symptoms of Lyme disease for three years. He is undergoing an evaluation at Columbia University’s Lyme and Tick Borne Diseases Research Center in New York.
In her official declaration, Ms. Rell said, “I commend your perseverance and dedication to the ideals of scouting. Your commitment and drive is an inspiration to all of Connecticut’s residents and a testament to your strength and determination.”
The award ceremony honoring for Greg’s achieving the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout is scheduled for January.
