A Weston man, who pled guilty to a felony charge of criminal attempt to entice a minor, has been released from jail after serving 45 days of a five-year suspended sentence.

Robert Borowik, 44, of Spruce Hill Road, was released from the department of corrections on April 27, according to Weston Police Detective Carl Filsinger.

As one of the conditions of his release, Mr. Borowik is now listed with the state’s sex offender registry list, available online at www.ct.gov.

In addition, police have created a public information file on Mr. Borowik, which is available at the Weston Police Department if anyone wishes to see it, Detective Filsinger said.

Mr. Borowik was arrested on Jan. 26, 2007 by Newtown police after he unknowingly had Internet communications with a Newtown police officer who was posing as a nonexistent minor.

“He was never actually communicating with a child. He was always talking to me,” said Newtown Detective Jason Frank.

Newtown Police Chief Michael Kehoe said Mr. Borowik was talking in an Internet chat room and sending instant messages that were sexual in nature to someone he believed was a minor. There was also e-mail sent about meeting with the minor, Chief Kehoe said.

On March 14 of this year, Mr. Borowik pled guilty in Danbury Superior Court to using an interactive computer service to knowingly persuade, induce, entice or coerce a person under 16 years of age to engage in prostitution or sexual activity.

He was sentenced to five years in jail, suspended after 45 days, and five years’ probation.
