Day Trip to The Cloisters Museum, Tuesday, May 13 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Spring 2008 Art Series: Trip to The Cloisters Museum in Fort Tryon Park, N.Y. Includes a guided tour. Trip to Italy cooking class, Tuesday, May 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cucina Casalinga. Sally Maraventano will be the guest chef for the Senior Center’s “Cooking for One or Two” series. Ms Maraventano studied Italian language and culture at Georgetown University’s School of Languages and Linguistics and the University of Florence. She is the founder of Cucina Casalinga, a regional Italian cooking school based in Wilton. Class size limited to 10. Reservations: 834-6240.
Taming your teen: How to set limits, Tuesday, May 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wilton Library. Liz Jorgensen will return to the library for a follow-up talk on how to set limits for teens. She will also address the results of the teen survey about drugs and alcohol use (presented in a separate program on May 1). Brown bag lunch welcome. Made possible by Parent Connection. Red Cross Babysitting Training, Tuesday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wilton Library. Two-day workshop conducted by the Red Cross for students ages 11 through 15. TrebleMakers toast senior luncheon, Wednesday, May 14, at noon at Ogden House. Originally a group of men and women, the TrebleMakers is now composed of 24 women from Wilton and surrounding communities directed by Mary Bozzuti Higgins and accompanied by Kyle Nobles. The weekly luncheon, sponsored by the town, takes place at Ogden House, 100 River Road, every Wednesday at noon. Volunteers from the Wilton Woman’s Club, under the direction of Julie Fingeret and Liz Haynes, will prepare the lunch for the seniors. Lunch: $3. Reservations: 834-6240.

Four Wilton Artists Remembered — History lecture, Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at the Wilton Historical Society. Ed Vollmer, a Silvermine art historian, will give a lecture as part of the Wilton Historical Society’s current exhibition, “Four Wilton Artists Remembered: Solon H. Borglum, Henry G. Thomson, Carl Schmitt and A. Travel the 50 States —Wilton Library’s Summer Reading Program Registration, Monday, June, 16 through Friday, June, 20, at the library. Wilton Library’s children’s summer reading program kicks off this week with the theme of exploring the United States. Each week kids will see a different focus, from the South and Appalachia to the Prairies to California. Craft programs, live animal events, musical programs and Drop-In Story Times throughout the summer. Children may sign-up, decorate their automobile-shaped posters and keep a reading log. Looking for 5x7 or 8x10 photos of people reading. Submissions accepted June 23 through July 25. Prizes awarded for the most original place found reading, the most humorous and the most artistic. Travel the 50 States — Wild Goose Nation, Wednesday, June 25, from 3 to 4 p.m. Wild Goose Nation is a string band specializing in a range of traditional American music. These three multi-instrumentalists learned their music from some of the master tradition bearers of Appalachian, African-American, Cajun, French-Canadian and Irish-American culture. Ages 4 to 12. No charge. First 150 people (children and caregivers) will be admitted. Children must be accompanied by adults. Registration begins one-half hour before program.
