The Bulletin Board is a guide to events of public interest in Wilton or sponsored by Wilton clubs and organizations, designed to let you know what’s happening and when, and to help schedule important events. Hands-on Computer Classes: Basic Internet, Tuesday, June 3, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Learn the basics of the Internet in an interactive class with Wilton Library’s computer guru, Mary Anne Franco. No prerequisites. No charge for program. Advance registration required: 762-3950, or wiltonlibrary.org

Final Senior Center luncheon, Wednesday, June 4, at 12 p.m. at Ogden House on River Road. A Musical Extravaganza featuring songs by Tom Shulz and Bill Kohler, with lunch prepared by the Wilton Congregational Church. Reservations: 834-6240.

Tip-A-Cop for Special Olympics, Wednesday, June 4, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Outback Steakhouse in the Gateway Shopping Center, 14 Danbury Road. Police officers will help Outback employees wait on tables and serve entrees for the evening. Guests of the restaurant will be asked to tip the law enforcement wait staff, with all proceeds benefiting Special Olympic athletes in Connecticut. Information: Lt. Wilton High School Film Festival, Wednesday, June 4, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Brubeck Room at the Wilton Library. Teddy Bear Picnic, Thursday, June 5, from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. at the Wilton Library. This program is a sharing time for toddlers ages one and two and their caregivers. The finger plays, songs, books and activities are selected to introduce children to the library and to story times. Children are welcome to bring their teddy bears or any snuggly. No program charge.

Opening Reception for “Behind the Blossoms: Six Views of Botanical Art,” Friday, June 6, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wilton Library. Artist's reception — Summer On The Island, Friday, June 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rockwell-Wilton Gallery on Danbury Road. Paintings by Carey Parks, an art instructor at Silvermine Guild Arts Center will be on exhibit from Wednesday, June 4, through July 22.

Congregational Church car wash, Sunday, June 8, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the  Wilton Congregational Church. Wilton teens will be running a car wash to help fund their upcoming trip to Gulfport, Miss., where they will be repairing homes that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. More than 100 teens and adults are heading to the Gulf Coast town June 22 through 29.

History of Wilton lecture, Sunday, June 8, at 2 p.m., at the Wilton Historical Society. Bob Russell, Wilton’s historian and author of the book Wilton, Connecticut: Three Centuries of People, Places and Progress, will talk about what Wilton was like before World War II. He will focus on a Wilton that was home to the old families whose names are still familiar today, and home to summer residents whose descendants are also still here. Georgetown Day Street Festival, Sunday, June 8, from noon until 7 p.m. on Main Street in the Redding section of Georgetown. Organized by Georgetown Village Restoration, Inc., the Georgetown Community Association, Georgetown Lions Club, and the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department. Admission is free with a variety of attractions including more than 60 craft booths, food vendors, a beer tent, dunk tank and chili cook-off. There will also be a screening of the movie “A Georgetown Story” at the Georgetown Bible Church and live bands on stage at both ends of the street. Hot & Cool: Jazz at the Brubeck Room — Taylor Eigsti, Sunday, June 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wilton Library. The two-time Grammy award nominee, Taylor Eigsti, returns. The 22-year-old pianist’s sound is rooted in jazz history, but it also incorporates the progressive jazz sound of the 21st century. Reception following. Walking tour of the Norwalk River, Friday, June 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. Jeff Yates, a fourth generation Wilton resident, editor of The Wilton Bulletin and secretary of the Mianus Chapter of Trout Unlimited, will lead a guided tour of the river, from Schenck’s Island in Wilton Center north through Merwin Meadows to School Road. Topics will include the history of the river, the challenges facing it and ongoing restoration efforts. Particularly highlighted will be stretches of the river which have been restored by Trout Unlimited over the years, and area where restoration work is planned for coming years. Travel the 50 States —Wilton Library’s Summer Reading Program Registration, Monday, June, 16 through Friday, June, 20, at the library. Wilton Library’s children’s summer reading program kicks off this week with the theme of exploring the United States. Each week kids will see a different focus, from the South and Appalachia to the Prairies to California. Craft programs, live animal events, musical programs and Drop-In Story Times throughout the summer. Children may sign-up, decorate their automobile-shaped posters and keep a reading log. Museum Trip Preview with Joan Kaskell, Monday, June 16, from 11 to noon, at the Wilton Library. Art historian and guest lecturer Joan Kaskell returns to discuss the Florence Griswold Museum. Spring 2008 Art Series: Trip to The Florence Griswold Museum, Wednesday, June 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Co-sponsored by St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and Wilton Library. The trip to Old Lyme includes a tour and exhibit entitled “Impressionist Giverny: The Americans, 1885 - 1915,” and lunch at the Bee and Thistle Inn. Gotcha Reading teen photo contest, Monday, June 23 through July 25 at the Wilton Library. For teens entering grades 7 to 12 and 2008 high school graduates. Looking for 5x7 or 8x10 photos of people reading. Submissions accepted June 23 through July 25. Prizes awarded for the most original place found reading, the most humorous and the most artistic. Kids’ Book Club, Tuesday, June 24, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Wilton Library. For children entering grades 3 to 6. Each meeting will have a different theme. Travel the 50 States — Wild Goose Nation, Wednesday, June 25, from 3 to 4 p.m. Wild Goose Nation is a string band specializing in a range of traditional American music. These three multi-instrumentalists learned their music from some of the master tradition bearers of Appalachian, African-American, Cajun, French-Canadian and Irish-American culture. Ages 4 to 12. No charge. First 150 people (children and caregivers) will be admitted. Children must be accompanied by adults. Registration begins one-half hour before program.
