Girls lacrosse: Last-second goal salvages tie
On the verge of its second 14-13 overtime loss in four days, the Wilton High girls lacrosse team salvaged its week by scoring in the final seconds of overtime on Monday in Greenwich.
The 14-14 tie in the showdown between two of the FCIAC’s elite teams could have been another devastating loss.
On Friday, the Warriors surrendered a late goal to visiting New Canaan to force overtime, and eventually wound up losing in the second overtime, 14-13.

Golf: Wilton stays unbeaten
The first 10 opponents should probably cover their ears and start humming. This is something they won’t want to hear.
The Wilton High golf team is 10-0 — and not playing as well as it could.
“We haven’t really clicked on all cylinders yet,” said Wilton head
coach Doug Campbell. “Outside of our win against Greenwich, we haven’t
played as well as I think we can play.”

Murph's Turf: Push underway for WHS girls hockey team

Hockey and golf.
Starting next school year, the list might be cut in half.

Softball: Rough week for Warriors
Going into Monday’s game with Bridgeport Central, the Wilton High softball team had scored four runs in 43 innings.
The Warriors ended their offensive struggles with a 17-1 rout of
Central, but the frustration of last week still lingered with head
coach Bruce Cunningham, whose team lost three straight games — two in
extra innings — in three days by identical 2-1 scores.

Boys lacrosse: Rams nip Warriors in defensive war
After jumping out to a 2-0 lead over visiting New Canaan just 40 seconds into the second quarter, the Wilton High boys lacrosse team could only find the back of the next once more the rest of the game.
The result was a disappointing 4-3 loss in what was an epic defensive battle.
The loss dropped the Warriors to 6-3 on the season.
Vinnie Cannon’s goal with 3:42 to go in the first quarter put Wilton up 1-0, and Mike Francia made it 2-0 with 11:18 left in the second quarter.

Golf: Wilton trounces Cards in showdown
In a match-up of undefeated teams, Wilton stayed that way.
The Warriors had a team score of 164 to defeat previously unbeaten Greenwich (177), the reigning conference champions, by 13 strokes last Thursday at Rolling Hills.
The 164 score was Wilton’s best at its home course since the 2006 season. The Warriors’ low score at Rolling Hills last season was a 168.

Girls lacrosse: WHS rebounds with impressive win
If the fire wasn’t all there in last Friday’s 15-10 loss at Darien, there was no questioning the Wilton High girls lacrosse team had the fire — make that a flamethrower — in terms of intensity on Tuesday night.
The Warriors bounced back from their first loss by rolling over an up and coming Danbury team that was 9-1 and had beaten New Canaan last week.

Murph's Turf: Athletes stay behind over break
Unlike many of their classmates, Wilton High athletes were still in
town last week. While fellow students spent spring break unwinding on
distant beaches, the players on many WHS teams were following their
normal routine: going to practices, playing games, staying at home
rather than at hotels or resorts.
