The Maritime Aquarium’s “Traveling Teacher” program will make a stop at the People’s United Bank branch in the Wilton Center Super Stop & Shop at 5 River Road.
The event, set to take place on Friday, Aug. 17, from 2:30 to 4, will feature an assortment of sea creatures including a variety of crabs, sea stars and other intertidal animals from Long Island Sound for customers to view and touch.
“People’s United Bank is excited to host The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk’s ‘Traveling Teacher’ program,” said Armando Goncalves, first vice president, greater Fairfield County market, at People’s United Bank. “This is a unique opportunity for us to educate our customers about the marine life of Long Island Sound.”
During this hands-on event, customers may interact with and learn about sea creatures, their habitats and Long Island Sound from Maritime Aquarium educators. This educational event is free and open to the public.
“The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is delighted to be able to bring our ‘Traveling Teacher’ program to local People’s United Bank branches,” said Jennifer Herring, president of Maritime Aquarium. “When people get a real ‘feel’ for these amazing and beautiful animals, that enjoyment often inspires them to act in ways that ensures marine life is protected and thrives in Long Island Sound.”
