Wiltonian featured in Redding luncheon, boutique

The Redding Garden Club’s annual Fall Holiday Luncheon and Boutique will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, at the Redding Country Club, 109 Lonetown Road, beginning at 10:15 a.m.

The featured guest speaker is Melinda Wolcott of Wilton, who will demonstrate “Holiday Designs.” Ms. Wolcott is a flower show judge and has staged the Hartford Flower Show for the past three years for the Federated Garden Clubs of CT. In addition, she has been the State Flower Show school chairman for five years and is a past president of the Wilton Garden Club.

Ms. Wolcott also teaches horticulture and floral design classes to all age groups. She has been awarded the President’s Cup for a member with the most Blue Ribbons awarded in a flower show. Ms. Wolcott works at the Wilton Garden Club’s Greenhouse in preparation for its May Plant Sale and has given talks and led tours to English gardens. In September, she was co-chair of the Wilton Garden Club’s Kitchen Tour & Flower Show.

The Fall Luncheon and Holiday Boutique is open to the public. Seating is limited so those interested in attending are advised to reserve early. The cost is $29 per person for lunch. Entree choices are grilled breast of chicken with sweet onion marmalade, apple wood smoked bacon and fontina cheese; fillet of sole with a Mediterranean vegetable ragout; or Tuscan vegetarian pasta. Dessert is tropical sorbets with plates of chef’s cookies, choice of coffee, tea or soft drink. There is a cash bar.

The event opens at 10:15 with time for Holiday Boutique shopping, accompanied by coffee and tea. The Redding Garden Club members have created an array of boutique gift items for sale, including homemade jams and baked goods.

The guest speaker’s presentation will begin at 11 and continue for one hour, with lunch served at noon.
