Big names in town as unnamed movie holds shoot on Mountain Road
|
Hollywood made a visit to Wilton this week, with tractor trailers parked along Dorado Court and Berch Court and the actual filming of an as yet untitled movie at 274 Mountain Road.
Residents who had been informed of the movie prior to the filming said it is currently named Untitled Sam Mendes Project, with Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes at the helm. Filming is also expected to take place in area towns, including Darien, Redding and Easton in the coming weeks.
Mr. Mendes was the director of the films American Beauty, Road to Perdition, and Jarhead. Pat Sidas of Dorado Court said the movie was about a couple trying to find the best place to raise their child.
A representative for the production company, Focus Features, said she could not comment on the details of the film nor how long the film would be shooting in the area. Ms. Sidas said she had been told the movie would be shooting until Thursday, and a member of the crew said they would be filming in the area for the next six weeks.
The house where the crew was filming was visible from the street. A Wilton police officer who was watching over the set said this part of the movie was intended to take place in Colorado, and there was a green Volvo with a Colorado license plate sitting on the property.
The project, according to the Internet Movie Database, will be starring John Krasinski, Allison Janney, Toni Collette and Maya Rudolph, among others.
Mr. Krasinski was seen on Monday at the shoot, and is known for his role in the television show The Office and in the movie Leatherheads, also starring George Clooney and Renee Zellweger. Ms. Janney was on the television show The West Wing and was most recently in the film Juno. Ms. Collette has been in the movies Little Miss Sunshine and The Sixth Sense. Ms. Rudolph has been seen on Saturday Night Live and the movie 50 First Dates.
The filming marks the third time in the past year that Wilton has been a location for a major motion picture.
In August, Disney filmed scenes for Old Dogs, starring John Travolta, Robin Williams and Kelly Preston at Passage East Kennels on Danbury Road. Scenes for the movie, What Just Happened, starring Robert DeNiro, Sean Penn and Bruce Willis were shot at a home on Ridgefield Road earlier in the summer.
Connecticut has seen a spike in movie filming since the state passed tax incentives in 2006 for production companies filming in the state.
