Daryl Hawk to reflect on 'Quiet Moments' in book talk

Daryl Hawk of Wilton will present Quiet Moments, a black and white photography exhibit and presentation on Monday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Earthplace — formerly the Westport Nature Center — 10 Woodside Lane in Westport.

Mr. Hawk, who has filmed documentaries and taken photographs across the world for the past 25 years will walk guests through his new book Quiet Moments, which captures many of the captivating images he has taken over the years.

The event is sponsored by the Norwalk Camera Club and focuses on nature, New York City and nautical photography.

“These particular photographs were chosen for this book and presentation because I feel they best represent the true beauty I find in powerful nature,” said Mr. Hawk. “This is a compilation of those high moments when what I see and what I feel are a single experience and knowing that something wondrous has happened before my eyes.”

Mr. Hawk is also a writer, lecturer and explorer whose photographs and articles have appeared in national and international magazines. He is host and producer of the Cablevision television show “The Unconventional Traveler,” which airs every Thursday night at 9 p.m. on channel 77.

His previous book, Distant Journeys, is a compilation of 150 color images taken from some of the most remote regions of the world, including the Arctic, Antarctica, Bhutan, Patagonia, the Andes, New Zealand and elsewhere.
