Silvermine Guild features 'Art of the Northeast'
|
Art of the Northeast, the largest show of the year at the Silvermine Guild Arts Center Galleries, will take place through June 6.
This is the 59th year for the annual juried competition and exhibition, which traditionally draws more than 1,200 entries. It is open to all media and artists throughout New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
This year’s juror is Thom Collins, director of the Neuberger Museum of Art, in Purchase, N.Y. Mr. Collins will lead a gallery tour on Saturday, May 10, at 5 p.m., before the public reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Awards will be presented to the winners during the reception.
The exhibit has been a showcase for many emerging artists who have gone on to receive national acclaim, such as Helen Nevelson and Elaine de Kooning.
The committee includes Silvermine Guild Artist members Cecilia Fradet of Weston, Karen Kalkstein of Stamford, Mary Manning of Darien and Nancy Moore of Ridgefield. Mr. Collins will make the final selections on April 30, and the award winners will be contacted about their awards.
Sponsorship is provided by Artists’ Market in Norwalk, Building Blocks Art Supplies & Gallery in Ridgefield, Garelick & Herbs in New Canaan, Picture This of Westport, Rockwell Art & Framing in Wilton, Westport and Norwalk and S.D. Cusson in New Canaan. Media sponsorship for this event courtesy of Moffly Publications.
